Why a Large Number of Aggregators/Resellers are Looking for their own A2P Messaging Platform?

To understand this question, let me take you two decades back.

Year 2000-2001

Telcos around the globe were desperately looking for adding more ARPUs to their kitty. VAS was emerging with larger penetration of mobile networks across the globe. P2P was becoming the primary means of short communication over and above voice calls. With the wider adoption of this native channel (SMS) of communication, telcos could imagine the growth potential of P2P messaging.

VAS was turning into a pie. Two-way messaging started expanding its wings as various use cases were emerging with the evolution of VAS. The real power of SMS was tapped when a few early aggregators such as Clickatell, Cardboardfish, Infobip, Gupshup, ValueFirst, etc developed their own SMS aggregation platform (A2P) to connect operators and enterprises. Initial use was limited to sending promotional messages by brands to their customers, and informing them about their products and services.

With the evolution of e-commerce and digital banking, A2P got a lot of momentum towards sending transactional SMS such as OTP, Transaction Alerts, Delivery Alerts, and many more. This traffic has always shown positive growth and continued to date.

SMS aggregators were looking for more revenue and the majority of them started onboarding resellers on their platform to increase their traffic. A large volume of SMS traffic will put them in a better position to negotiate with Telcos.

Going forward, resellers were not that lucky. They started realizing that their margins are decreasing day by day. In a few cases, their large accounts were hijacked by their own aggregators and a few of them went out of business.

Our story was not different. We felt the same pinch. Instead of making a cry, we thought of empowering resellers. Most of them did not have tech knowledge or any domain expertise to build their own platform. It took us 4 years to finally build a smart, user-friendly, 100% white-label platform for resellers.

We got a lot of positive feedback during our journey and in no time, our agile team could deliver a protocol-agnostic, carrier-neutral scalable messaging platform with integrated billing and invoicing.

And today we are serving 200 + clients and working with Resellers, Aggregators, MVNOs, and MNOs (Telecom Operators)

During this journey, we could figure out the following reasons why a large number of aggregator/resellers are looking for their own A2P messaging platform

-Data Security

-New features

-Own Branding

-Increased margin using LCR

-Direct connectivity with telco

-End to End plug and play system

 -Excellent technical backing and support

-Complete White label

-Scale on demand

-No technical expertise is required

-No interconnect bilateral agreement required

-Multiple protocols supported (HTTP, SMPP, SS7 over Sigtran, SMTP )
